As the world turned upside down, I learned an important lesson.
After years of hard work, the career I had built felt like it changed overnight. in 2006, Shortly after graduating college I became a licensed REALTOR® and in two short years everything came falling down. The real estate Investment company I worked for at the time dissolved and I was left without a job, and no idea what to do next.

Most were hurting in those days because of the 2008 recession. People were losing jobs and many companies in the real estate and financial sectors closed their doors for good. Jobs were few and far between and even though I was still a residential REALTOR® the whole time, there was not a lot I could do once the market ground to a halt.
Fortunately, I had a degree in Finance from Miami University and my family to fall back on, but after working on my own terms for a few years, being independent, it was a huge blow to my ego. We all did what we had to do to get by and I moved back in with my parents, like so many others my age at that time, in their mid-20’s. I called it my quarter-life crisis. I also took a corporate 9-5 job that was still in real estate, commercial retail. However, with all my dreams of being an entrepreneur and creating my own success, it felt like I was moving backwards.
After a few years, the market recovered and during that time the most unexpected thing happened at my job, I met my wife. If I had not taken that position, who knows if we would have ever met? I continued to build my business the whole time I worked in the corporate world and after a few more years, it began to take off. In 2012, I was able to purchase my first house, a foreclosure in Norwood for $42,000 to fix up. Then in 2015, Jumped back into real estate full-time on my own terms was exactly what I had been working toward.
I like going above and beyond in everything I do. Ever since I was younger, as an athlete, I did what everyone else did and then some. I played more than a handful of sports and even practiced with other sport teams that I was not a member of to stay in shape. Being “the best in the room” was always my goal and that drive led me to win several awards in sports and during my time in the Army National Guard, as well. Not being able to succeed in the way I had imagined during the recession was hard to swallow at first, but I found a new way to achieve my aspirations. Giving up was never an option, it is just not in my nature. I simply had to adapt, which, although difficult, is something I like to think I have excelled at.
What I realized through it all was that sometimes what can seem like failure is actually your best path to success. I think we learn best by doing and making mistakes along the way. I love what I do now as a REALTOR® more than what I did when I first started in real estate. Also, I would not have the family I do today if I had kept on the same path rather than creating a new pathway success. My family is what I am most proud of, and I could not imagine my life without my wife and our two children. Life is all about the curveballs. No matter what is thrown at you, all you can do is adapt and turn those pitches into homeruns.
Whenever I am not working, I enjoy playing golf, spending time with my children, and watching Bengals games with my friends. My favorite part of being a REALTOR® is the freedom it affords me and my clients to achieve our goals.
